Dear Lewisham Council,
I am writing as a resident of Barriedale Road in New Cross to raise a concern about an ongoing obstruction on the pavement that is affecting pedestrian safety and accessibility.
Over recent months, I have noticed an increasing number of items being left out on the pavement outside 52 Barriedale. Four large sections of a box bed frame have been abandoned. These items are unstable—when the wind picks up, they frequently fall over and completely block the footpath.
This issue is compounded on bin collection days, when the addition of refuse bins makes the pavement entirely impassable. This forces pedestrians, including an elderly couple a few doors down who rely on a mobility scooter, to divert into the road and navigate around parked cars. This is not only inconvenient but poses a serious safety risk.
I would be grateful if the Council could investigate this matter and take appropriate action to ensure the pavement is kept clear and safe for all residents, particularly those with mobility needs.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Resident, Barriedale Road, SE14-55 Barriedale, London, UK
