Hello,

We are leaseholders of a flat for which Lewisham council are the freeholder. We have two lime trees in our communal front garden which have grown extremely large in the past couple of years, the branches are touching the property and blocking out most of the natural light. I contacted Lewisham council housing services multiple times over the past year to ask that they be cut back, but have not had any response. We'd like the trees cut shorter and also trimmed as feel they are getting out of control.
I am a leaseholder at 8A Glenton Road, London SE13 5RS.

I am writing to request an inspection of the mature large-leaved lime (Tilia platyphyllos) located in the communal front garden of the property, for which Lewisham Council is the freeholder and responsible for maintenance.

The tree has grown very large and is becoming difficult to manage. In particular:

• Branches overhang the front of the property, blocking out all natural light.
• The canopy extends over the public pavement and into the carriageway.
• Given its size, I would be grateful if the tree could be inspected to determine what level of crown lifting/ thinning/ pruning is now appropriate to ensure suitable clearance over the pavement and to alleviate light issues in the upper two levels of the property.

I understand that the property is within a Conservation Area and appreciate that any work would need to be carried out in accordance with the relevant requirements. I am simply requesting that the council's arboricultural team assess the tree and advise what action is possible.

I would be happy to meet an officer on site if required.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Holly-8A Glenton Road, London, UK
