I would like to formally report concerns regarding the large tree located directly outside my property on Sunderland Road, SE23 2PS.

The tree has become excessively large and overgrown and is now causing a number of issues for both residents and members of the public.

The lower branches are hanging very low over the pavement and roadway, obstructing pedestrians using the footpath and also interfering with vehicles parked outside the property. The size and positioning of the tree also significantly obstruct visibility and access when entering and exiting parked vehicles.

In addition, the tree now blocks a substantial amount of natural daylight from entering the front rooms of the house. Even during bright daytime conditions, the living room remains noticeably dark due to the density and spread of the branches and foliage. I have attached photographs showing both the scale of the tree and the impact it is having on light entering the property.

I am also concerned about the general condition of the tree. Parts of the trunk and branches appear to show signs of deterioration and possible rot/decay, which raises concerns about safety, particularly given the tree’s size and proximity to the public pavement, parked vehicles and nearby homes.

The tree is also located close to a school and a residential estate, meaning there is regular foot traffic from families, children and elderly residents throughout the day. Given the low hanging branches and the apparent condition of the tree, I believe it may pose a potential danger to pedestrians and children using the pavement and surrounding area, particularly during windy or adverse weather conditions where branches could fall or become hazardous.

I appreciate that the council may not remove trees solely because they block natural light. However, based on the council’s published guidance, the council is responsible for:

* pruning low branches to create clear walkways for pedestrians
* cutting branches that are touching or very close to properties
* removing dead, dying or dangerous trees or branches

Given the extent of the obstruction and the apparent condition of the tree, I would respectfully request that the tree is urgently inspected by the appropriate team to assess:

* whether the tree is safe and structurally sound
* whether substantial pruning is required
* whether removal should be considered if the tree is diseased, dangerous or no longer suitable for the location

The situation has progressively worsened and I would appreciate this being treated seriously due to the impact on safety, access and the loss of natural light to the property.

I have attached photographs for reference.

Kind regards,

-87 Sunderland Road, London, UK

This broken bin has been left outside our property for a few weeks. I have reported twice but it hasn’t been dealt with yet. It’s very smelly and people keep using it, would it be possible to have it removed? Thank you!-96A, St Asaph Road, London, SE4 2EL
