We are writing to you urgently to raise a serious safety concern regarding the enormous tree and several smaller trees located on the green area directly behind our house/garden, which is council-owned. The situation has been ignored and, as a consequence, has now reached a critical and dangerous level which is why we are contacting you.
The trees and branches have overgrown uncontrollably, extending right across our garden, butting against the external wall at the back of our house, and almost coming through the bedroom window. This blocks vital natural light and, more importantly, risks serious structural damage during heavy winds and storms if they were to break or fall. We are also very concerned about fire hazards following recent London Fire Brigade warnings about numerous house and garden fires caused by the prolonged dry weather and extreme heat. Just one small spark from a neighbour’s BBQ could trigger a fire.
The prolonged inaction is unacceptable and places our household’s personal safety at serious risk. You need to carry out an immediate inspection and urgent remedial action to prune or remove the hazardous parts of the trees without further delay.
Please confirm receipt of this email and provide a clear timeline for when the necessary work will be carried out.
Thank you for your swift attention to this urgent matter.
